Please allow me to welcome you to this site. My name is Clarinda and I am a middle-aged housewife living on the remote far north western coast of Scotland. My husband, Chris, and I came to live in this beautiful place a little over 10 years ago, and when we arrived I was extremely over-weight to the point of being obese, over-tired, depressed and just about ready to give up the ghost. Throughout adult life my weight had caused me unhappiness, but I had never been able to get to grips with how to lose it.
Fortunately for me, I fell in love with this place. As I explain in my book, the circumstances of things coming together in my life allowed me to find a way to grasp the nettle of my situation, and to lose the excess weight which was causing me so many problems. Although it wasn’t always easy, for the most part, I enjoyed the experience. It was a great feeling to get thinner, buy new clothes and most importantly, to feel so much better with far more energy and a zest for life I hadn’t had for very many years. Sometimes I found that it was quite embarrassing to receive so many compliments from those around me – but great at the same time!
During my weight loss journey, I also discovered a way of releasing the anxiety and worry which had greatly affected my life for literally as long as I can remember. I touch on this in my first book, but go into greater detail in my second, which compliments the first and will follow shortly.
For 18 months now, I have been writing about this wonderful place on my Blog, Highland Diary. I was inspired to do this by the place where I live and by the people around me. They also inspired me to write about my weight loss journey! I hope that my wee books will help others to follow this same path to increased health and happiness.
